A fate and a tale of film photography
In December 2023, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the breathtaking city of Kyoto. During my exploration, I stumbled upon a hidden gem—a film camera tucked away in a discounted electronics store that caught my eye. Eager to embark on a film photography journey, I began taking pictures with a charming Fuji disposable camera. As the film rolled, the whir of the camera reminded me of the old times, especially when I reminisced about a heartfelt conversation with my grandpa. He used to share tales of his beloved 120mm rectangular camera, which he cherished deeply. It also took me back to my first experience capturing moments with my mother’s snapshot camera during a family trip to Seoul, filled with laughter and adventure.
Memories came rushing back, flooding my thoughts with warmth and nostalgia. And when I saw the outcome of the film photography pictures, I couldn’t help but feel a strong pull into this nostalgic swirl. The soft colours and the fine grains of the images tell intricate stories, weaving together the essence of life in those moments, transcending the mere photo itself.
I love the feeling of connection to the past and the artistry involved in capturing life through a lens with film photography. Since then, I have started building my website to showcase my artwork to people who share the same passions. You can find out more on my B&W and Coloured albums.
