One day in Little Paris with KONICA C35 EF camera

Black and White

While wandering around Sheung Wan, a vibrant neighbourhood in Hong Kong affectionately dubbed “Little Paris,” I discovered that this name genuinely encapsulates the essence of the place. The rich influence of Western culture, a remnant from the colonial era, is unmistakably present, yet the heartbeat of Chinese culture pulses strongly throughout. As you stroll through the streets of Little Paris, you’re greeted by the sight of bamboo scaffolding precariously erected on buildings, temples exuding fragrant incense, quaint cafes serving traditional dishes, lively wet markets bustling with activity, and the irresistible allure of street food wafting through the air—all coexisting harmoniously in this unique, multifaceted locale. Capturing these moments with my KONICA C35 EF camera made the experience even more memorable. There are moments when the sheer diversity of cultures and histories envelops you, making it easy to lose track of time and forget precisely where you are, wholly immersed in the vibrant tapestry of the neighbourhood.

Equipped with my trusty KONICA C35 EF camera, I seized the opportunity to capture the essence and vibrancy of Little Paris in a way that resonated profoundly with my own experiences. Each frozen frame I took narrated its own compelling story while the interplay of light and shadow danced across the scenes, bringing them to life in a vivid array of colours and textures. In those fleeting moments behind the lens, I felt an incredible sense of belonging, as if I were part of Sheung Wan’s spirit. Go to my Black & White album to see some of my works, and you will understand what I am talking about.

So, I advise anyone eager to explore Little Paris to grab your camera. Whether you prefer capturing colourful moments or the stark contrasts of black and white—it truly doesn’t matter. Allow yourself to wander and lose yourself in the labyrinth of streets, and in doing so, you will understand the deep, enchanting charm that I hope to convey. The experience will leave you with memories that linger long after you’ve left this captivating neighbourhood.
